London motor show 2008: visitor numbers 'up 14 percent', say the show organisers

Official figures for the recent London motor show today reveal a 14 percent increase in visitor numbers. The British International Motor Show at London's Excel arena attracted 472,300 people over the past fortnight. Although that's some way off the initial target of 550,000 visitors, it's a healthy rise on the 2006 event, attended by 415,000 people.

Special edition cars are used by car makers as a way to shift some extra metal by seemingly offering either something not normally available, or at a discount from list price if you’d specified the extras you get on the Special Edition on a standard car. Aston Martin has played this game lately with the Limited Edition DBS Carbon Black and V12 Vantage Carbon Black, offering something extra and a bit different for more money. And now they’re offering a new Limited Edition DBS which uses the other reason for a Limited Edition Car – the anniversary.
Mercedes-Benz has followed the public debut of the standard CLS Shooting Brake wagon at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed with the unveiling of a potent 518-hp AMG version. But like the CLS wagon, the CLS63 AMG wagon won't be coming to the United States. Set to reach European showrooms in October after a formal reveal at the Paris motor show, the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake is powered by the same turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 gasoline engine as the CLS63 AMG sedan.
